Date night in Carytown

If you’re looking for a date night that’s a little different from the usual dinner-and-a-movie routine, Carytown has you covered. Here’s how I’d plan a date night with my loved one:

1. Start with some entertainment

Personally, I love kicking off the evening with something that sets a mood. You can’t go wrong with the Byrd Theatre, you can watch a movie or even a concert. They also show nostalgic films, which can spark fun conversations and memories.. If you’re in the mood for a more modern, energetic vibe, check out Reveler. Their live music nights are perfect if you want something a little more upbeat, and it’s a great way to start the night on a fun note without feeling rushed.

2. Dinner for two

After the show, it’s time to eat. Carytown has so many options, but I am recommending two of my favorites:

Greek on Cary

This cozy Greek restaurant is perfect if you want something casual yet flavorful. The portions are huge, so keep that in mind when ordering. Think fresh gyros, tzatziki, and shareable plates like spanakopita. It’s relaxed, bright, and full of personality. Their back patio even makes you feel like you’re in Greece (I swear). It’s a great spot to chat and linger over food.

Mom’s Siam

If you love Thai food like me, you’re going to adore Mom’s Siam. Their curries, noodle dishes, and stir-fries are comforting but packed with flavor. The intimate setting makes it feel like a special treat without being overly formal. Bonus: perfect for a date night when you’re feeling a little adventurous with new flavors.

3. Sweet or Drink?

If you love ice cream as much as I do, you have to check out Bev’s Homemade Ice Cream. My favorite way to enjoy it is grabbing a milkshake to go and taking a slow walk down Carytown. Not in the mood for dessert? How about stopping at New York Deli for a drink? They have an amazing rooftop, and if you’re feeling fun, they host karaoke every Thursday night.

Carytown is one of those neighborhoods where a date night can be spontaneous and memorable. Personally, I think the mix of historic charm, great food, and quirky stops makes Carytown one of the easiest places to impress a date without overthinking it.
