By the entrance of Carytown, Jeni’s Ice Creams offers a variety of made-in-house ice cream
flavors, served with a decoratively delicious waffle cone piece. I recently visited Jeni’s after
having dinner with a friend in Carytown and it was the perfect way to end our night. While Jeni’s
was on the opposite end of where we were, we had a nice walk on the way over while looking at
the other nice spots in the area.
As we entered, we were greeted by friendly staff which we especially appreciated because they were almost closing, but they still welcomed us in. I have been to Jeni’s a couple of times before,but I usually get the same two flavors. On this visit, I noticed they had a new flavor, Miso Butterscotch Brownie. I didn’t know what to expect from that flavor, so one of the employees told me I could sample it. After sampling it, I really enjoyed the flavor and how it wasn’t overly sweet; it had a good balance of flavors. I realized then that the Miso Butterscotch Brownie would be my new favorite. I ordered a small cup, and since they
scoop two half scoops, I decided to get a second flavor. I sampled the Salted Peanut Butter with
Chocolate Flecks. Again, this flavor was new to me, but I really enjoyed how the flavor wasn’t
overly sweet. I was really satisfied with my two flavor choices. Even though I do like to have a
sweet treat after dinner, I don’t like desserts that are too sugary, so Jeni’s Ice Cream was the
perfect choice for me because it offered a nice sweetness to end the night without feeling like I
was eating straight sugar.
My friend had the same experience, and we agreed that we would definitely be coming back for the new flavor next time. We decided to have one last walk in Carytown before ordering our Lyft to take us back to campus. Carytown is a very pretty area, not just because of all the restaurants, but also the murals and night life that make Carytown what it is. It is a vibrant, walkable strip that offers a welcoming environment for all different kinds of vibes that someone is looking for, from dinner to dessert to clubs.
